WHAT IS THE PLANE STICK GOLF SWING TRAINER?
WHY IS IT
SAFE AND EFFECTIVE? |
The
Plane Stick is a golf swing trainer consisting of a telescoping aluminum rod
(a) that can be adjusted from 33" out to 46" and has an
adjustable tension controlled knob at it's base allowing
it to match any lie angle (b). This allows a golfer to
practice with any club in their bag regardless of club
lie or length.
The rod is attached to a solid "1" thick
cross shaped Polyurethane base (c), matching the
thickness of most driving range mats. This provides
The Plane Stick golf swing trainer with excellent stability and
durability on any surface (grass or cement behind mats). |
 |
Now here is the kicker!
What
makes THE PLANE STICK so unique is that the top
of the telescoping
rod is a 18" foam and nylon sleeve covering a breakaway
spring (e).
This enables the golfer to contact the golf swing trainer without risk of damage to their body or
club, unlike the traditional shaft in the ground. THE
PLANE STICK also has a target line string to ensure
simple precise set up every time (f).
It is the training
aid that has everything a student needs to ensure quick
and easy swing improvements.

USING THE PLANE STICK
If these quick and simple setup
instructions are followed a golfer using the
Plane Stick golf swing trainer is ensured
a safe and effective environment to practice
proper swing plane mechanics.
First open THE PLANE STICK golf swing
trainer to its cross-shaped operating
position. |
Unwind the target line and position it inline
with the target (if you are on grass you can put
a tee in the ground to secure it, or just lay it
on the mat).
Set up your natural address position right next
to THE PLANE STICK with the blade of your
club on the target line. Then with the hand
closest to THE PLANE STICK golf swing
trainer bring the telescoping rod up to
match the plane angle of your club. (Fig.1)
Make any adjustments to the length and lie of
THE PLANE STICK golf swing trainer
that are needed and then simply lock them in
place by turning the knob on the rod clockwise
until it does not turn any further. Turn the<
tension knob to lock the lie into place. |
 |
 |
Move a couple of feet away from THE PLANE
STICK golf swing trainer
towards the target.(Fig.2)
The proper distance is determined by taking a
practice swing to the waist high position in
your back swing. At this point the hozzle of
your club should be even with the breakaway
portion of the rod.
Once you have made sure that you are the correct
distance you are ready to hit balls.
Just take the club outside THE PLANE STICK
golf swing trainer on the way back and try
and drop it underneath it on the way down. |
We highly recommend that this be done at 20% of
the player's natural swing speed. This allows
the golfer's body to readjust to the new
feelings of dropping the club inside from the
top instead of going out "over-the-top". As they
get the feeling the player should slowly
increase their swing speed until they are able
to do it at full speed.
Once they have achieved this they are ready for
the fine-tuning drills.

OTHER USES FOR THE PLANE STICK GOLF
SWING TRAINER |
Dropping
a players back foot away from the target
string clears the right side making it
easier for students to drop the club into
the slot position and swing from the all
important inside attack position.
This drill over exaggerates swinging from
the inside but still allows the player to
focus on a proper on-plane takeaway. |
 |
With the
addition of the new Extension Rod, The
Plane Stick can help you with an even
wider range of swing faults.
Thanks to the interchangeable rod system,
you can switch back and forth between the
Short rod and Long rod within seconds,
depending on what aspect of the swing you
are working on.
All Long Rod drills are explained in detail
in both the instruction manual and
instructional video.
|
 |
Moving
the ball about 2" inside the target string
allows students to swing more freely
underneath to underneath The Plane Stick
golf swing trainer.
This allows a player to receive feedback
only if they pick the club up outside on the
takeaway or swing over-the-top on the
downswing, not if they make a good on-plane
swing. |
 |
Moving
the ball outside the target string about 2"
keeps players from swinging the club too far
inside on the takeaway and from getting the
club trapped behind them on the downswing.
This enables a player to focus on getting
the club out in front of them on the
downswing instead of allowing the club to
swing too much from an inside to out
position.
Great for low handicappers! |
 |
 |
|
These golf swing
trainer drills do the same as the above
drill but are a little less intrusive. By
angling The Plane Stick golf swing
trainer in these various positions you
can find which position offers the best
visual for staying on-top-of-the-ball on the
downswing as it can vary from player to
player. |
|
 |
 |
 |
The
Plane Stick golf swing trainer
can be used to teach correct hand path by
placing The Plane Stick golf swing
trainer over a player's hands or shaft
at address.
This forces the player to return the club in
the same position at impact or only slightly
higher, instead of much higher as many
over-the-top swings inevitably do. |
 |
To give
a player the feel for the correct swing
plane on their follow thru, simply put
The Plane Stick golf swing trainer
in the same setup position in front of the
golfer.
Do not attempt to hit golf balls with the
swing trainer in front of you.
This drill is meant to give a player the
feel and awareness of where the club should
be after impact. |
 |
 |
|
These drills are
similar to the above drill but player's can
hit balls with The Plane Stick
golf swing trainer in these position.
These positions are less intrusive and
present no danger of hitting the
non-breakaway portion of the rod with their
club. They too force a player to swing more
down the target line instead of across it. |
|
 |
 |
 |
|
The Plane Stick
golf swing trainer can be used to help
teach a player proper body rotation both on
the backswing and on the downswing by
eliminating hip, knee, and ankle slide/roll. |
|
 |
 |
 |
|
Once a
player has eliminated the "over-the-top"
move, it is time to fine tune their swing
plane.
This is done by standing a bit further from
The Plane Stick golf swing trainer
and having them try to "click" the
protective sleeve on their takeaway and then
miss it altogether on the downswing. What
this does is ensure that the player is
taking the club right up their desired plane
line.
This drill is useless if a player has not
yet mastered the ability to drop the hands
inside instead of "over-the-top" at the top
of their swing. |
